Superb sat-nav

Featured Replies

I have a Superb SE L Executive TDI S-A registered 1/3/2017. I would like to know what make of sat-nav is fitted in the car.

Hi @ianpurdie and welcome. Usually the easiest way is to look at the unit in the glove compartment. I'm assuming since you say sat-nav it is either a Columbus or an Amundsen. Columbus unit looks like this:

Amundsen looks like this. My understanding is Bolero doesn't have satnav.

So if you have the DVD, you have Columbus. If not, it's Amundsen.

Thank you for taking the trouble in showing me how to tell one sat-nav from the other. Now all I need to do is to update the Columbus. When I looked at satnavi.com/skoda.php it required my VIN #, when this was inputted it wanted a different VIN #. I am confused and even checked that the number on my V5 was the same as that on my windscreen - they were. I'm still pondering what to do. Any suggestions?

No problem. I'm assuming you want to update the maps? Head over to the Superb mark 3 section. There is a thread on it there. I'm on a phone at the moment so can't post a link. Latest map is 2018/19. Be warned  - It's over 24Gb, so will take a while to download.

FYI lots of people have the same problem with the Skoda portal - for example it told me there are no updates until August. The link in the thread on the mark 3 board doesn't require a VIN and works for all mk3 Superbs as far as I know.

Again, thanks for the information.  You have been most helpful.
