dab

Featured Replies

I recently retro fitted a Amundson + unit (thanks LGM) and

I notice there was black plug on the rear is that for dab ? as

I also fitted a dab aerial (thanks Rustynuts) but no dab

what is the black plug for ???

Black plug is the DAB aerial. You need to connect the black extension cable I sent you to the black plug on the rear of the Amundsen, and then onto the black plug on the aerial base.

hi mate

I have done that but no sign of dab on the stereo listings

if I go in to the band it only shows FM/listings and below that am?

It should show DAB if it's a DAB unit, and the black plug on the rear would indicate that it is. Try a disconnect of the quadlock and then reconnect to see if that works.

just removed the quad lock and no difference

Not sure then. Are you certain you connected the black plug to the black connector on the aerial base rather than the burgundy one?

  • Author

ill double check later but im sure I connected the black lead you supplied to the black lead on the aerial

surely the black plug wouldn't fit the purple one would it??

No, it shouldn't. Even if disconnected you should still have the DAB option on the head unit.

had a reply from the seller and he thinks dab needs to be enabled via vcds

the unit works ok other than the dab so hopefully it just needs to be 'coded' for dab

There certainly is a bit to deactivate DAB on the RNS-315 so it could be that :)

ok mate cheers for that

update

many thanks to all who advised me on this problem

sorted !

works perfectly

and again to Rustynuts for the aerial and info

and to LGM for the unit itself and info as well

both top blokes:thumbup:

Was it just a VCDS coding then?

yeah

looked into the 'hidden bluetooth' coding setup as described

didn't realize that you had to turn on dab

me being 'old school' thinking just plug in and all is ok !!!

when you also drive one of these

anything is too modern LOL!!!

Well, at some point I guess someone turned DAB off then, as it would usually be active but Bluetooth turned off.

  • Author

maybe it turns off once the unit is disconnected from a power source ?

Nope, the units coding remains the same when power disconnected usually.

mmm strange one but all is ok now :)
