Sorry .it's been a long day .can this be moved easily?

To get a key for the towbar, I'd imagine you'll need to get in touch with Skoda with the serial number of the towbar.

Regarding the electrics: that module is not a relay box, it's a control module. What's missing is the wiring harness needed to connect it to the vehicle. If it's anything like the Superb, that module fits on the left-hand side of the boot (behind the trim).

The wiring harness connects to the two sockets on the module. One connects to the trailer socket (which will be either 7-pin or 13-pin); the other runs the length of the car along the driver's side sill and connects to the fuse panel under the dash, and the BCM which is also down there.

You need to go back to whoever you bought the towbar and controller from and see if they will remove the wiring harness as well and send that to you. Without it, that controller is useless.

When you have it installed you will need to get a bunch of control modules in the car recoded with VCDS to tell them that a towing controller is now fitted. This page has more details on this part: http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Trailer_Hitch_Retrofitting_(1K)

Might be easier just to buy a new plug with a bypass relay as I only need it for a light board .not split charging or towing a van etc .

That would be the easiest and cheapest for me I think .

If you do that, you're probably stuck with the rear parking sensors going off when a trailer is hooked up. One of the benefits of the control module is that it communicates with the BCM to disable the rear parking sensors when a trailer is connected. It also enables the towing mode in the ESP system and the alarm will go off if the trailer is unplugged while the car is locked.

You can buy the wiring loom separate, do it properly!
