Clay Cloth

Featured Replies

Just wondered if anyone uses a clay cloth rather than a bar and could offer any comments or advice please

I use the Farecla clay mitt and it’s fast and effective. A proper lump clay will a better job but the clay mitt will do around 90%. Just use the leftover shampoo in your bucket (assuming you do the two bucket method) after washing your car as a lubricant for the mitt.

Thanks for this. I have read some reports that the mitt causes marring although this could be down to the user. Have you had any issues like this?

Use plenty of soapy water and don’t press on just move the mitt over the panel. You will feel it go smooth as it pulls the dirt out of the paint work. If you get marring it’s down to not enough lubricant and too much pressure applied.

I use the farecla mitt too, never had any marring, you can also put some shampoo in a spray bottle to use as a lubricant together with the bucket

Thanks for the tip

+1 for the clay mitt as well; slick shampoo mix always gets good results and minimal marring - IMO.

One trick in addition to the above suggestions; using minimal pressure...."listen" to the clay mitt catching the contaminants.

You will be able to here it catch the surface elements and obviously get quieter as they are removed, when using a back and forward claying action.
