Brocken altinater belt problems

Looking for help!!! I own a fabia 1.4 16v 100hp. 06 plate. My Altinator belt exploded everywhere the other day car come to a halt as my battery was nackerd as well. Got a new belt and battery fitted to no avail it ticks over but won't start. Opened top of cam cover and the 2 belts at top are lining up as thought maybe timing slip but there was bits off the altinator belt tangled up on it. It's a strange 1 I know.
