Side window smashed.

Featured Replies

Ok so, I've had the scout a month and not had much luck so far. Had it reversed in to parked outside my house last week and now this week had it broken in to and dash cam nicked.

Paint is being sorted tomorrow so no issue there.

The question I have relates to the side window.

Had the front passenger window replaced by National Windscreens via my insurance. However the fitter was unable to complete the job because he says the glass clip has come off in the door panel, probably because of the force of the window smashing. Is this possible and has ayone heard of it before?? I was then told to take it a garage to be fixed as the door needs to be stripped and not to use the window. So at least the car is secure but I can't use the window. Spoke to my insurance broker who say speak to National Windscreens and if no joy there go direct to my underwriters. Spoke to National Windscreens today who say that thier job was to replace the glass and the mechanisms are nothing to do with them. Will be speaking to by insurance underwriters toorrow.

Any advice appreciated :-)

That’s very poor from National Windscreens.

Typical of Britain today - i.e. ‘do the minimum and see if I can get away with it.’

Decent customer service is rare these days.

Sounds to me that the window fitter wasn’t up to the job.

Sorry I can’t help, but good luck getting it sorted. Hopefully it will be soon and you can put it all behind you and enjoy the Scout. Great motors.

(Perhaps put the dash cam in the glove box next time!)  ;-)

Trustpilot only rate them 2 stars and there are loads of negative comments. Wish i'd read it first or I would have insisted on another company

That was my first thought that there may still be glass in the clip but the fitter let me look down in to the panel and I could see the white clip that the glass should sit in at the bottom of the door.

I'm not even convinced that the glass fitted has the same tint as the other side as it's not oem thats been fitted.

The Broker needs to go to the Underwriter they represent if anyone does.  Why have a dog and wag your own tail?

Nationwide need to get a competent Company to do the job their employees can not do but Nationwide want the Underwriters money for doing.

All in they want to be in the business and have you doing the running about.

Just to finish this one off, I had the scout back to Skoda to be sorted. New window regulator fitted and all back to full working order and they fitted the b'pillar plastic that I sourced elsewhere for me as well. Can't fault them.

E-mailed all of the reciepts to my insurers with the crime reference number and some pics and they paid out no problems and processed it as a windao claim so no increase i no claims.

One happy boy...........
