So, is it possible? I'm having trouble finding a used left side mirror (a whole set) for my car, but the III's are available in quantity (and actually pretty cheap). Is the base and the window triangle holder the same or not on both of them? In case it would fit, I'd switch to the III's mirrors. Anyone has any info on this?

That hasn't answered my initial question, and the other potential problem is that my mirror is probably a 13-15 pin version, not a 6 or 9-in one (which are available in quantity almost anywhere) ... I'll know for sure once I strip down the door panel ... and when I do, I'll probably start adding sound insulation like STP or DynaMat and while I'm at it, I'll probably think about swapping the factory fitted speakers for Hertz or something similar and compatible to the door construction ... one door at a time
