Skoda Active Services Buttons Not Working

Hi all, so took ownership of a 18 reg scout.... it has an 'i' , spanner and SOS button above my head. I tested the SOS button and that works, but the other 2 do not do a thing. I have registered my account with skoda in terms of the pin & activation codes.... but as I have a Columbis infotainment system there is no sim slot and refuse to use a telephone network data dongle to give the car additional features. I use the USB port for android auto which is essential connectivity for business. What really peeves me off is that potentially LOOKERS Skoda Manchester used the fact that the above head 3 buttons are a costly feature and used that as a negotiating tool in selling me the car. A feature I have paid for but does not seem to work. 

Is there anything I need tox do to get the 2 buttons working? Do they need a data connection?
