Need to reset Windows for every other trip

Featured Replies

The girls fabia seems to forøget the calibration on the rigt Window for every second trip.

I reset by rolling it down keeps the button down 5 second rolls it up and keept the button for 5 second again. Every time with the engine running.

Now er van drive the car two times and I have to reset it again. What can er do about it?

Try cleaning up the switch internals, if you are able to. They are not too complicated but if you can't resemble them or if they are corroded too much, a new switch might be needed. Additionally, these cars often suffer from broken/fractured wires in the door wiring loom that runs through the door bellows.

If a wire is fractured, it might make contact sometimes but not all the time. I had it recently, where it worked when the door was closed but stopped going up/down, when you fully opened the door. Worked again, when closed. Had to fix the wire again!

I think your issue is more likely the first one though, this also happens more in wet/damp conditions.

Just noticed, you are in Denmark so right window will be passenger side. Does the fault occur with the right window switch, the drivers master switch or both?

It is the passenger side. Have only teied to ise the drivers switch (left one). But I will check both out to day.

Also will i check how it work with doors open.

Are there some kind og guide to cleaning switches?

I cant calibrate from the passenger side.

IT works fine with door opeb etc.

Its Strange. Two days without using the car, and it still works. Drove 20 miles to job, it still worked. Drove 50 miles home from work aaaaaaaaand tadaaaaa it has lost the calibration again....

What to do?

The most likely fault, as already suggested, is a broken wire or intermittent connection in the door wiring. While the passenger window has the problem the broken wire(s) or connection fault could be the drivers side, indeed more likely as the door is opened more often. The switches are a possibility too but while possible for both sides to be faulty more likely only to be a problem one side.

If all are definitely good then unfortunately probably the control, I've no idea if a separate module or part of the ECU as my cause was broken wires.

Try operating the auto function, whilst actually swinging the door open and shut. See if the window stops mid travel. If it does, it is probably a broken/snapping wire.

Also try global opening and closing with the keyfob too. That sorted our Fabia passenger window out once.

Global opening?

Might a suggestion from the Yeti Oldies be acceptable?   Spontaneous window opening was an occasional problem with the Yeti a few years ago.  One of our members posted this solution - it seemed to be generally successful and was certainly a permanent cure in my own case:

It might work on a Fabia.  Good luck, anyway.
