Hi All,

My name is Wayne, from Newcastle U/T and I'm currently weighing up a new car.

Doing around 10K a year, maybe a little more now with the kids.

My current car is a 1.6 Diseasel Ford Grand C-Max, I get around 39 MPG from it.

My previous cars...

Mazda 2.3t 6 MPS

Mazda 2.3t 6 MPS

Corsa 3 pot (Lasted me 3 weeks before I killed the engine hah)

Mazda 2.3t 6 MPS

2.0l Seat Ibiza Sport

1.9TDI Focus

So yeah as you can imaging the C-Max has been a bit of a step down :(

Most of the last 5 years have been spent in the Mazda's and the main reason for getting show was the boot space was awful and needed more room with the kids.

Well there's that and I was only getting about 19MPG from the Mazda lol

Currently looking at both the Octy and Superb in the estate format but the missus also seems quite interested in the Kodiaq.

So I'm here to do a bit research on the engines, trim and the MPG difference as I'd really like to get back to petrol and a bit of an upgrade on the power, altho tbh best part of 200bhp from a diseasel is probably still gonna feel rapid compared to the minibus I'm currently driving haha

So there we go a little run down, hope to be into a new car in the not too distant future :)

Welcome to Briskoda.

Read the threads about mpg closely, since VW and the EU have been extremely creative with the official numbers.

LOL creative,

All the tests done down hill with a tail wind? :p

Downright lies is more like it than creative. The fashion for small turbo engines has made the gulf between official and real world figures enormous.

Welcome to the forum and hope you find the right car!  If you're looking for space both the Octavia and Superb are certainly not lacking and the Superb in estate form is one of the best looking cars around at the moment.

A warm welcome to the Forum Wayne!  Depending on the number of little ones, look at the Octavia.  I have the 1.5TSI, very pleased, good boot and nearly 50mpg so far.  I'll do a proper reckoning at the end of the year.  If not big enough, have a look at the Superb.
