Hi

 

Need some help with a weird VCDS issue on a Fabia mk2 (bxw, 5j, 2008, pre-canbus). The service light can not be reset, not with VCDS, not by 3rd party service and not by dealer service.

With VCDS (ai adapter from swe vag-com dealer) I can access 01 engine, 03 abs brakes, 09 cent electrics, 15 airbags, 46 central conv. Climatronic was disconnected during this latest test so assumably that will be available as well (08 auto hvac?).

BUT, 17 instruments does NOT repond. I assume this is the issue!?

If I am right so far, any idea what can be wrong and how to troubleshoot it?

I assume the two components involved here is J519 vehicle voltage control unit and the instrument cluster where as j519 is playing a passive role?

I'm not too keen on trying to replace instrument cluster, I assume there will be issues with pairing och mileage reading?

 

Any ideas?

Ok, spent some time on this...

Unfortunately I don't have the VCDS readout from earlier and may just be able to recall by memory some things.

 

But the thing is, there are several units which didn't respond to VCDS auto-scan (5J, no CAN-bus) and now there are only two units responding no matter what I try.

 

Here are the readouts (the first one was with some parts disconnected as I removed several things to replace blower and fan regulator):

Did you ever figured this out?

I tried with 2 different scanners on my fabia mk2 and I am getting constant communication errors when trying to access very basic modules (actually, most of them) that should be working, and which they were working in the past, but not anymore.

 

Anyone has any idea?
