Torx bolts on front passenger door **** tight

Featured Replies

Cannot believe this.  Snapped the end off my new Chrome vanadium TX45 socket... :@ trying to remove these damn torx bolts on the doors.  I want to swap all the doors and the first torx bolt I come to undo the socket just snapped.. the end of the tx45 socket now stuck in the bolt!!!:@  To be honest the gap between the door and head of the torx bolt is so tight, it probably wasn`t in all the way properly! :(

Second question.  I assume I am removing these doors the correct way, the 3 torx bolts?  One at the top hinge then two at the bottom?   OR is there another way to remove the door more easily?  Should I be using another tool to get in that tight gap?  I thought maybe try a torx key?

The plan is to swap all 4 doors with the doors from my other car.

Any tips or advice from anyone who has done this welcome!

Cheers,

Samuel :)

Ok found generic skoda mk1 manual instructions on removing the door.  It says remove the nut at the bottom of the pin that goes through the top hinge then remove the bottom torx bolt on the bottom hinge and it simply lifts off the hinges.. Yeh right!  Door will not budge! lol

Done it now.  There are two torx bolts on the bottom hinge duh lol.  The entire door then lifted easily off the hinge.  Finally.
