side trim removal front nearside section.

Featured Replies

Hi, I have a 2013 Yeti Elegance and need to run a cable from the rear of the vehicle  to the battery down the nearside. I have looked at many forums on the subject and have found quite a few regarding the rear trim but not the very last one I need to remove at bottom front that ends just underneath the storage compartment/airbag. I have removed the pillar trim and can move the side trim at that end but it is solid at the front end. Please assist. Thanks, Francis. Please see photo's for better detail.IMG_0177.thumb.jpg.7013dc657d8009597e87ad9cb703fae4.jpg

I have prized the longer section away from the fixings but the L section at the end with the bonnet catch is tight. It is the one shown in the diagram on Halford's reply. It looks like I need to prize off the bonnet release catch then undo the hidden bolt and prize it off. If you could just confirm that I would be grateful.

Also, I cannot find a decent book which shows the trim removal method. The diagram you have is fine and can you give me detail of where I can obtain one showing all trim removal.

I just purchased an online one which has about 30 different files which have in turn hundreds of pages and up to now I can't find any info on trim removal.

This was from Jacobgarage on ebay at £25 or so. I would think the info is there somewhere but to now I cannot find it. Thanks, Francis

Have you taken screw #2 out?

Hi Urrell, Will prize off the bonnet release and then I will remove screw *2. This will be in an hour or so as waiting for car to return at the moment. Thanks. Looks like that will do the trick, thanks for now.

Hi, Still cannot remove the trim. I first tried to prize off the bonnet release catch with a plastic trim tool. Would not budge so used a large screwdriver from any angle I could get in to and still no movement.

I then thought I would remove the glove compartment so I could get the screwdriver in from the top to see if that would do the trick.

Cannot get the glovebox off. I have now found the info now from my downloaded manual but shows glovebox on other side as it is for a lhd vehicle and does not include rhd picture but should be same method I think.

The info says to first ever off the opener with a screwdriver but again, it does not move. I am inserting the screwdriver underneath then levering back toward me to release the "catch peg" then push sideways but it will not budge (and do not wish to break it off)

So, I have to be missing something as surely the bonnet release and the glovebox catch cannot be so tight to lever off?

Hi, I have prized off the glovebox catch. Screwdriver too far behind the front of the catch so was trying to prize off the whole assy.

This still does not give me better access to the bonnet catch.

Still trying to remove the bonnet catch without success. I am levering quite hard but it will not budge. I have tried levering just below and just above the catch peg, even with 2 screwdrivers at the same time but no movement. Any ideas? Thanks, Francis.

Ps. All I want to do is to get a feed from the rear of the car for the tow bar to the battery.

Hi again,

Just managed to remove the bonnet catch. Please see photo's. There is a plastic cover with a circlip arrangement that fits inside the handle from the side that you can't see. Easy when you know how, no big screwdrivers needed.

I will now continue to remove the trim and hopefully see a way of getting into the bonnet to the battery.

Thanks, Francis.
