mk3 octavia brake light, no power

Featured Replies

good evening

I have a mk3 Octavia tdi Vrs on 2015 plate.

The LH brake light bulb isn't working and doesn't seem to have any power to it with the brake peddle pressed.

I fitted new lamps and even swapped over with the RH cluster aswell as plugging the RH cluster into the LH side but the problem still persists on the LH side. whilst checking these out, the RH cluster brought a fault up on the dash where as there isn't a peep from the LH side

Is there a separate fuse?

were is the main plug that supplies the rear lights?

isn't there meant to be a warning on the dash board?

any help gratefully received

Yep, the body computer BCMmay have corrupted some of the settings that control how the lighting works.

If there was an open or short then the bulb failure detection would be triggered, so I would expect the BCM to store fault codes and turn on the bulb failure on the Maxidot if there ws a loose connection.

Yep, go for either a HEX-V2 (USB only) or a HEX-NET (USB and WiFi) depending on what you prefer.

Those are newer designs that will work with 2018 models so will future-proof your purchase (as much as that is possible).

So....My HEX-V2 come today...

how would I get to test the output via the software?

there maybe a coding error/issue somewhere or a damaged cable.

can I just set the brake lights on via VCDS then get out and have a look?
