I have a Fabia MkII Estate - with summer retreating I tried using the heater over the last couple of days.  I have the Climatic system.  I'm finding that for the vast majority of the temperature dial, when turning the temperature up next to no heat comes out of the vents.  But when I dial it all the way up to the very last notch, the heater suddenly comes on full blast.

 

So I have the choice of lukewarm, or massively massively hot and nothing in between!

 

This seems to be happening both with the AC on and off.

 

Any suggestions gratefully received!

 

Just to clarify, does the speed setting go from 1 to 4 ok, meaning it is actually the heat output rather then fan speed? 

The issue sounds like the old fan speed rectifier/regulator but on the temp dial. This makes me wonder wether the issue is the same regarding heat. 

 

Can you shed more light on the issue such as mileage, age, etc (The car, not yourself). Also, has anything else been changed and/or repaired, since the winter/spring months, when you last used heat?
