Weird knocking from rear of car

Featured Replies

64 plate yeti diesel. Folks, there is a strange knocking from the rear of the car, especially when i go over a bump. It sounds like its coming from the boot area, and may sound worse as I don't run the car with its seats in. I have taken any luggage and other stuff out of the car, and also all the stuff that sits under the carpet in the boot. It still does it. The car was serviced a few months ago, and i mentioned it to the garage . They said they had a quick look under the car etc and found nothing amiss (Broken spring etc !!) The only major clue i have is that if i drive the car with the boot slightly up, i.e. not fully shut, It DOESNT do it. That suggests something amiss with maybe the boot lock, although the garage say its adjusted correctly.

Any clues folks, its driving me nuts ???!!!

It is easy to adjust the stops on the rear door. Just clip off the side plastic trim at the stops and adjust them. They have ridged plates so adjust one ridge at a time to tighten the rear door. This may stop the knock. If you go too far the door will be hard to slam closed, bouncing back instead of latching completely shut.

Granny in the boot? : - D)

Actually guys, there may be another clue here.

if I close the boot normally, it fails to shut most of the time (Well it shuts but doesnt connect properly with the lock, and stays ajar). A lot of the time to ensure it closes properly, i have to slam the darnt hing ??!!?!?!?!?

Same problem I had. Rubber stops need to go in slightly, or catch moved out. Try the stops first as easy. I didn't have the correct spline key size to adjust the catch, but moving the stops solved the problem.

Has anyone got a link to perhaps to youtube as to how I take the platic trim etc off at all please ??

It does sound like the door stops need adjusting it to make the boot door easier to close.
Pop off the covers, one each side towards the bottom of the door.
They only want moving a notch or two.
