Rust Paint Warranty - courtesy car?

Featured Replies

Hi,

Our 2012 Yeti (Elegance Dsg 4x4) has developed abit of rust at the inner corner edge of the door. It appears to affect both front and rear doors on the driver side.

Long story short, our dealer has confirmed that I’ll be getting 2 new doors  but the car will be off the road for about 2-4 weeks.

Anyways the car is primarily used by the wife and the kid school runs etc. She is comfortable driving only an Automatic and not manual. Hence we have a dsg model. So naturally I ask for a courtesy car that’s an auto and of a similar size.

Issue is that the dealer tells me there’s no autos. Surely not?

Just wondered what courtesy car others got for this sort of repair work and how long was it off the road?

Surely we’re not being unreasonable when asking for a similar car, an auto at the very least.

Ive contacted Skoda Customer Service to see if they can help. Explain the situation but appears they can’t guarantee either, but will speak w the dealership on my behalf?

curious to see what others think?

cheers

H

It would seem they are repairing the faulty doors rather than “replacing” surely.

Why exactly is the car going off the road for 2-4 weeks, can the body shop not say which 5 days or less they will be doing the doors?

They can get the doors ordered, delivered and prepped before your car arrives, no need for your car to be there and stripped and no new doors yet delivered.

Where is the car going to be sitting about under dust sheets for the rest of the time?

It is a Warranty Claim, Skoda / VW Group are paying and they are to make sure you are not out of pocket.

Speak with them again, get the Communications Manager not just some call handler, this putting it back to the Dealership is just rubbish,

& do not trust what a Dealership Employee tells you, if it is their Warranty Manager you are speaking to, they work for you as your agent, get it all in writing.

?

Which Dealership is this, one in Glasgow or near?  Who is changing and painting the doors, them or some bodyshop?

Be sure you find out who is doing the Warranty Repair.

Why would you say that?

They are replacing the 2 doors with new ones as I’ve been told.

But not sure if that would mean transferring the trim over from existing to new doors?

Hi,

ive just been told that the work could take potentially 2-3 weeks..

i would imagine the doors would have been ordered and in before I get hand my car over.

Yes, a warranty claim on body paint corrosion via Skoda.

I had called Skoda Customer Service and advise them of the situation. Didn’t seem that helpful as no guarantee on what we need for the courtesy car (auto). Anyways, the dealer emailed me again to advise that they are trying to source  vechile from  another branch. So shall see?

Dealer is Henry’s in Kyle street Glasgow. Anyone has such body work done here?

with regards to the repair works I honesty assumed it would be the dealership (their own body shop). Will certainly ask....i assume that is always the preference rather than contracted out to another shop?

Thanks
