Things to look for on delivery.

Featured Replies

Is there any areas I need to pay special attention to when picking up my car on Wednesday, paint or looking for scratches in particular places? Thanks in adv

Make sure the car is dry so you can properly check the exterior for damage, especially dings from other car doors whilst it's been in the compound, the roof and bonnet (loading it on and off the transporter) and the alloys for scuffs (driving it into the ramps for the PDI).

Get them to set up Skoda Connect for you.

Check both umbrellas are in the front doors and the removable torch is in the boot.

Check the locking wheel nut is either in the boot or glove box and that the plastic caps have been put on the wheel bolts.

Is there enough fuel in it to get you either all the way home (good dealer) or to the fuel station around the corner (bad dealer).

Are all the factory fitted options there?

Are the dealer fit options there (running boards, mudflaps, floor mats, boot liner etc.)

Ask for your KODI bear!

^^^ All the Above.

Pop the bonnet and see where the coolant level is with the engine cold, dip the oil cold so you know where the level is cold at handover.

Ask the Sales Person what they have set the tyre pressures at and then ask for a shot of their tyre pressure gauge and check if they are correct & safe.

(take one with you so that there is no messing about if this professional dithers.  Reset the TPMS.)

If not safe tyre pressures on the car then tell the salesperson to get the Master Tech to do the PDI again, and find out who signed off the car.

Ask them to check the Transport Blocks have been removed correctly.

Takes less than 10 minutes of your hand over time, but keeps them honest and on their toes.

If it is a Scottish Car Dealership be sure that the Rear Registration Plate is not squint, and that there is no dealer sticker with a life longer than nuclear waste.

Have fun with the new car.

Drive in (run in) the Tyres, Brakes & Suspension and that is all the engine and gear box, drivetrain needs.

If there is a dealer sticker on the rear screen have it removed, if it is left on and you then want it off you will likely wreck the heated screen by pulling the filaments off.

Neither my heated wheel nor the Left & Right heated sync controls were working.

Edit to add - the third zone AC control was u/s.

Required a return to dealer for a day in the workshop.

Years ago, another car was taken away with the cruise control not working. Another return-to-workshop deal.

Check that all the options that you asked for are both listed on the paperwork, and actually fitted to the car. Don’t expect the dealer to have done this. I speak from experience

They are only gonna put £25 of diesel in it (bad Scottish dealer), KODI bear? I'll make sure I ask.

Is it a Kodiaq you are getting or a Karoq or both? You have posted in both sections.

Which Dealership Group is the car being supplied by?

It's just a karoq, sorry I posted in the wrong forum. The dealer group is West End.

OK.

Spend a good amount of time doing the hand over.  Some rate West End highly and some have experienced the rather poor Customer Service / Car Prep from them.

See the Dealership Review Section for positive and less positive reviews.

Bannockburn, Sighthill or Dunfermline.    Maybe they will be on their toes now, maybe someone there will read this.

A few years back a Director was on the forum bigging them up just not saying they were a director of West End....

PS.

Open the Bonnet and the Doors and look around the front door jams and the inner wing area and see how the Paint Coverage is.

Good colour coat in these areas!
