Fabia VRS clutch replacement

Featured Replies

I’ve owned my Fabia VRS for around 6 months now, and it’s starting to slip in 3rd onwards. It’s currently on 133K , remapped with no proof of a clutch replacement etc. What clutch replacement would people recommend?

Neither of those are suitable, you need a new standard Sachs or LUK clutch kit and a new DMF.

Thank you have you got a link for the clutch and flywheel kit? Will it be able to handle the remap?

Another vote for the LUK or Sachs brands as they're most definitely the best standard clutch brands. You say your car has been remapped but mention no other mods, a better question to you would be what power and more importantly torque figure is on the map? (If you know of course).

Depending on that answer it depends on most suitable clutch, standard can and do handle 300 lbft if you don't launch it everywhere of course. Else you can get slightly uprated DMF, Sachs spring to mind, that handle slightly more torque figures. Check around Darkside website for their description on what they estimate the clutches can handle and then see if you can find the same one cheaper elsewhere.

Worst case is SMF which handles a lot more torque..... noise is guaranteed with them though.

Yes, a brand new standard clutch and DMF will handle a remap, yours are worn out.

No, I don't have links, do your own homework. :tongueout:

Power flow exhaust, bigger intercooler , pd150 turbo along with a remap (No proof) so try and get it on the Dyno before the clutch goes!

Alternatively you can just look at the turbo, the plate on it will tell you what it is, noisy exhaust is for blow, not go and unless it has had a FMIC conversion the intercooler is moot.

Get it dyno'd. Hopefully a dyno run won't cause it to slip if the operator is sensible.

Depending on the numbers you get back, a good OEM setup might be enough. If the torque is high you might want to consider either a gentler map or a higher torque clutch.
