The 1.0l is back

But only in the Karoq SE SAT NAV PLUS and it's cheaper

Took a test drive in one - very impressed with how capable such a small engine was even with 4 adults on board. So impressed in fact that I have ordered one to replace my Yeti. Hoping to take delivery in the next 2-3 weeks.

They do go well.  I had a dsg one for a few hours and I couldn’t believe how smooth and nippy it was.

Having had my 1.0L manual for a few months now the only thing I don't like about the engine is how it responds at low speeds in 2nd gear. Can take a couple of seconds to begin to build speed which can be a pain at roundabouts.

I have exactly the same problem Tom! Very embarrassing when you think you can pull away in 2nd gear, only to find you've stalled the car in the middle of the road......and the wife saying 'haven't you got used to this car by now'.

Never happened in the 1.4 Octavia however it's probably the only pitfall in a near perfect car.

I was quite impressed with the DSG version.

Seemed quite punchy

Picked mine up yesterday less than 4 weeks after ordering. I didn’t order any extras hence the quick delivery. Only driven about 50 miles but very pleased with it so far. Smooth ride, light gear change, plenty of room, comfortable and 47.7mpg which is pretty good for a brand new engine. Also seems plenty powerful enough for my needs. Has lots of goodies that I didn’t have on my Yeti so will take a while to fully appreciate it all.

@TheGardener Is this a new 68 plate 1.0 TSI so one with the GPF / Gasoline Particulate Filter?   Manual or DSG?

Were you told of have you seen what oil it requires, is it VW 508 / 509 so 0w 20 FS LL ?

It is a manual, I don’t think the 1.0 is available with dsg anymore. It is 68 plate but no mention has been made of GPF or what oil is required. I don’t play with the oily bits anymore - as it came with 2 free services I’ll let dealership worry about that when the time comes.

Maybe before those free services or the first one see what Skoda are recommending as the Oil. the Oil they are filling t the factory and started using for the WLTP emissions and fuel use.

If it is to VW 508/509 i would make sure the Dealership uses that at the Main Dealer Servicing.

Not seen any mention of them yet charging more for those paying for services if the VW 508/509 is going to be used, but that will be a subject coming up soon i would think.
