ABS Fault

Recommended Posts

I have Skoda Octavia (1.6 TDI CR 2008) and I have fault on ABS/ESP fault light on dashboard. The lights come straight away as soon as you turn the car on. I ran diagnostic (VAG COM) and it shows this:

Address 03: ABS Brakes        Labels: 1K0-907-379-MK70M.clb
   Part No SW: 1K0 907 379 AK    HW: 1K0 907 379 AK
   Component: MK70 M MASR         0105
   Revision: 00H35001

   VCID: 7BF511673A10BBC6C11-802E

1 Fault Found:
00283 - ABS Wheel Speed Sensor; Front Left  (G47)
012 - Electrical Fault in Circuit

I changed the sensor and it did not clear the faut.

I took to the reputable BOSCH garage and they spend weeks trying to fix the problem. They did following work in chronological order:

  • Genuine VW Sensor
  • New wiring loom
  • ABS pump was taken off sent to test centre and it came back as fully working.
  • Changed the wheel bearing.

The fault was still there. They retuned it to me (charged me £580) and advised me to take to Skoda as they should know better.

Skoda dealership was not helpful at all. Instead helping, they scared me off with story that they will have to do it all again and that it will cost me at least £1500 to start with and much more if they cannot find fault straight away. So they were reluctant to take my car.

Now I am stuck. It failed MOT and the car which is only 8 years old and run perfectly fine apart from ABS. Potentially might be scrapped.

Have anyone had similar problem? Is there any suggestions of what should I do?

Had same problem on a 2012 Citigo and after lots of sensors/wiring checks etc, I sourced a second hand ABS pump (which could not be fully tested but seemed OK).

Fitted £65 ABS pump and no faults since: Skoda ABS pump with fitting around £1800!

Try a replacement pump if you can.
