Thanks Dan for info; is this likely to affect my no claims at all or increase my next premium?

Had my vehicle damaged ironically by someone at work in the work vehicle. They parked up opposite my vehicle in a company van (same company I work for) got out and left the handbrake off; it then rolled across the road a smashed into my vehicle causing approximately £1000 of damage. Initially my boss said he would sort it but now he has found out it is more expensive, says he isn’t paying for it and it needs to go through the insurance. If this has a knock on my NCB , I will not be happy as I have managed 39 years without a claim, I wasn’t even in the vehicle, it was on a public highway not private land.. Do I need to get my insurance company involved and loose some of my NCB or can I just ring the company insurance company and explain I’m making a claim off them and not involve my insurance?

As kind of expected, had our brand new van which was ordered and deposit paid July 21, cancelled by Nissan uk today. It’s not being built at all, they are now starting to get ready for a replacement to the NV250, cancelled and deposit returned 😩 Totally stuffed, been waiting months to now have to start trying to find alternatives, bearing in mind anything out there is at least £2k more expensive now than it should be, as demand outstrips builds…..

I know it’s not Skoda but ordered a new van for work back in July; told today the order is highly likely to be cancelled Nissan Uk The dealer has had over 200 commercial vehicle orders cancelled since February 2021, with no offers of alternatives either. Talking to the guy, he said things in the whole car industry are dire, many manufactures are struggling to supply much at all, he said Mercedes are reducing the specifications on all models to try and get some models out at a lower spec. Told even if I cancelled the order on this particular van and re-ordered the new Citystar or whatever he said was replacing it; he couldn’t guarantee delivery and doesn’t expect anything before May 2022. Turkish made Transits haven’t been made since the beginning of summer either allegedly. So if you are waiting on new vehicles, I wouldn’t be holding your breath.

I had this on my car and it was due to bird crap……luckily applying heat and manipulation of the lacquer by a detailing specialist, it came out. surprising what bird poo can do. If you say you rarely wash it, could it have had something like bird poo or tree sap eating into it?

That is because it has just based the quantity of fuel you have added and your previous driving characteristics and estimated 420 miles. Once the E10 goes through, things may well change, as it adjusts the timing etc or whatever it deems necessary to cope with the fuel it is getting…. IMO. Someone more knowledgeable may give a better answer.

On Skoda used/approved you have a 30 day/1000 mile no quibble exchange policy. worth looking into it and make sure you are still within the 30 days

Easiest thing is just get a local OLEV registered electrician. They are pretty much the same price, if not better as all the big companies, saves you doing all the research for them too and lots are not tied to a specific manufactures product 👍 They will sort out the grant too but as said must be OLEV to do so.

Not on VAG but another make, had it were if you go within 1-2m it opens the mirrors but doesn’t actually unlock the car until you grab the handle. Xerces8 are you 100% sure it’s actually unlocking or just opening out the mirrors. (if you have folding mirrors)?

IMHO Don’t really care about mileage, it’s s 64 plate, so on time alone I would have changed it around 5/6 years for peace of mind. wife's Citigo is a 62 plate with less than 20k miles but I had the cam belt done at 5 years old at £280 it was worth doing for peace of mind. Some of these rocket ship mileages they quote scare me.

Get yourself on Autotrader…on the top menu bar there is a “Value your car” tab, click on that and follow, it gives a good rounded value based on either selling or buying and no personal details required I use it all the time when browsing cars, gives a quick n easy snapshot for guide purposes and it is pretty accurate.

I was offered by WBAC back in December 2020- £9850 for a car. Every month I kept sticking it in WBAC until eventually they offered in May this year £11,350, same vehicle with increased mileage etc. Actually traded it on paper for £12,500 to a BMW main dealer on a px for something else. So yes second hand due to lack of new is going through the roof, same on commercial small vans, struggling to get anything new from stock, most now are build to order with 16 week lead times on new - second hand vans now fetching silly prices 😩

Best bet for sound advice is get yourself on the Facebook group: EV Drivers UK There are many, many experts on there with good charger and tarrif knowledge. The little EO gets good reviews and avoid tethered, just from my EV experience.

Hi all buying a used vehicle and the dealer sent these images last minute saying their valeter has washed the car and noticed these stains in a couple places. Their smart repair chap was not around to polish them out what is my thoughts….. looks like possibly tree sap or something but it must have burnt into the lacquer? Any thoughts on how easy/cost etc to get corrected would help, as supposed to collect the car this weekend and the can’t get it sorted before :( Appreciate any feedback.

That is the only good thing I have noticed with a Kia I have, it will not lock if keys is inside the vehicle, it just knows and won’t let it lock. You would think VAG could do similar. I can only assume you only have a single key, if you are looking at putting windows in 😩

The little Toyota looks a lot of fun but £33,500 with the track pack is bonkers or is it that special. If I hadn’t gotten bored of Golf R’s I could buy a nicely loaded 2nd hand R and still have a few grand in my pocket. £33,500 spare what would you buy, excluding an R or the Civic?

TBH not all Brexit.....merely 11,000 containers full of PPE at Felixstowe is causing massive importation issues if the truth be known and container ships are struggling to unload. We have lots of supply chain issues and have had since early November. They only show you/us the side they want and the way they want to paint it....Honda (Japan) were negotiating their own trade deal with the EU back in 2013.

GDPR....they threw away all my receipts etc that I handed them when I sold a car back to the main dealer. It had my name/address on etc and said they would of loved to pass this on but not anymore, under the GDPR rules.

I thoroughly enjoyed the driving experience of an EV (BMW i3) from the instant torque but with limited range of around 140 miles, I spent far too long trying to plan journeys. Worrying if the charger would be working when you get there or if it was blocked by some ignorant ICE owner etc. 250 miles is a much better and usable range, hope you enjoy it 👍

If you have air con in your car it could be this: My transit connect, leaks water around my foot right up by centre console. I know it’s not the same car but the condensate drain pipe which exits under the car/van (common method on many vehicles) gets blocked and the water from the aircon then drains from the unit back into the footwell. Luckily I can acccess the the drain pipe inside the footwell and push a zip tie down to clear it, then a quick blow with an airline, to clear for another year or so. Worth a check if you have aircon; if not it could be heater matrix issue?
