Just want to throw this out there to see if anyone agrees that the skoda traction control is pretty non instrustive/ good at getting the power down?

Had mine entered into a sprint/autotest at the weekend and its nothing special just a 1.6 tdi eco hatch designed to do 80mpg on the motorway although to be fair up from the 103bhp and 184ft lbs to 195bhp and 340ft lbs running Avon ZZR's at 24 psi on a wet/damp track.

I had noticed on the second part of the track when you get onto the main sprint section that someone had been dropping oil so i thought for the 2nd last run i would turn on the traction control, why not nothing to lose instantly the car did it 2 seconds faster. Kept it on for the last run again 2 seconds faster than the non traction control run.

The event was shared by another driver as was run as a "pro/am" event and my co driver was someone that was an autograss champion, won a season in junour saloons and raced minis and in the C1 24hr rockingham race so fairly handy. Told her about it and the first run she forgot to turn the traction control on then on the 2nd run 3 seconds faster?!

I know on dry track its a no brainer its 100% off from experience with the car at Donington and Knockhill but was pretty impressed with how it did just getting the power down and not bogging the car down or is this something i just should have expected?

Data logs from it, red no traction control blue with, ignore the part between 100 and 200 metres as i hit the oil going through the cone chicane and the car got properly sideways and was waiting for it to hit a stack of tyres

Course in question starts at 44 seconds first part was without traction control in the carpark area

What tyres were on in the wet?

Disable it whatever way for the 1/4 mile, sprints or hill climbs. IMO. Only when that suits the conditions obviously.

ESP and TC/ASR.

i know Monte's are different and there are different Monte's, but others have disabled stuff, just not for the roads maybe....

Can’t turn off esp unless you pull the fuse and it’s the same one that does abs.

The worst part of the car on a dry track is the esp I have to agree but on a damp track I was surprised that the traction control actually made it faster and not bog down that I would have expected.

Others have.

? What tyres are you running in the wet?

Sorry edited up top.

Have you changed  the 'Brake Assist' setting?

Is there a 'Steering Assist' setting on your car,  i used to change that according to the tyres, 205, 215 or 225 on the front.
