To echo what I've been hearing for years now - no point upgrading your Diesel air filter unless your fuel demands are significantly higher.

Genuine Air filter is fine until you're looking at an uprated turbo.

To elaborate on what @bspman said, a diesel is controlled on the amount of fuel pumped into the engine and therefore has a lot of excess air through the filter. A 'performance' filter on an engine with no mods to the fuel system is unlikely to give gains.

I have a 64 plate vrs and was looking at a k&n air filter. I have a non-modified engine but I'm not looking for extra power just making sure I'm looking after my engine and getting the most efficiency out of it.

Worth it?

My journey to work and back is 60 miles with most being motorway driving.

None whatsoever!

Fitting clean fresh Air Filter when required will be good for performance as the car has left the factory and fuel economy.

The K&N filter might sound different, eventually get dirty, need cleaning correctly and over time just be a PITA. Likely you have worse performance and economy.

At least if you wade through too deep water it will not fall apart, but you will still drown the engine.
