Columbus USB Media Problem

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I've historically used my iPod Nano (Remember those?!) to access my mp3 music collection in the car. I've got the 2018 superb with the Columbus 9.2 touchscreen system, and when connecting the iPod via USB, it does not show up as a device for me to select from media.

Has anybody had any experience with this, or be able to shed any light as to what the problem could be? I've no problem connecting my iPhone using Apple Car play via the USB.

On my previous Audi MMI system I had no such issues. I could access all playlists including artwork etc. so its a bit frustrating....!

Any help appreciated.

Per the manual for the MiB Columbus - it only supports Apple devices running iOS.

The last iPod Nano 7th generation had iPod OS 1.1.2 which had an iOS-like appearance but wasn't actually iOS.

The only iPod that used iOS was the iPod Touch - as it's basically an iPhone without telephony.

The old iPod OS was supported on the RNS Columbus via MDI. It was available with the Mk II Superb.

I have my daughters Classic 5th or 6th gen (need to look) which does work on USB.

Once when ti went into the dealer the head unit lost it, unplugging and reconnecting fixed it.  Have you tried a different lead or different device?

Thanks for the replies. I have resorted to transferring all of my music onto an SD card which works a treat, and actually stores more than the iPod did! I am loving the Canton sound now....!
