Brake Fluid Warning again!

Featured Replies

Really starting to lose faith in the skoda brand & Hayseldens as the low brake fluid warning came on yet again for the second time, last time I took it back they topped the fluid up & bled the brakes, but two months down the line & same fault occured yet again. Luckily I opted for a two year extended warranty so I took it back yet again & this time they discovered that a hose had split & was leaking fluid, when I picked the car up after it had been sorted they were very vague about what it was & I was told it was the hose from the brake master cylinder to the clutch slave cylinder that had split but they didn't have an answer to why it had split.

The first few miles on my journey home I noticed that the clutch was very heavy but seems to have got lighter & the brakes don't feel as sharp as they did when I picked it up, I contacted hayseldens & was told to monitor it & go back if the warning came on again & to add insult to injury they managed to lose the engine cover but they have ordered me a replacement at their expense.

I'm beginning to wish that I just stayed loyal to Renault & PSA as it seems like my skoda is about as reliable as a french car!

I'm guessing that this is a combination of an unusual failure followed by a messed up repair by an inept Skoda dealership.

None of that is going to give you a warm feeling, but at least it is the clutch hydraulics pipe work that has failed and not the brakes pipe work, so while getting a low fluid warning, the safe operation of the brakes should never have been affected by this failure, the take off point for this clutch fluid should be high enough up the fluid reservoir to stop that ever happening.

At least some French Cars (PSA) are built in Slovakia, Czech Republic & maybe they will be keeping building in the UK.

Topping up the brake fluid without seeing where it has leaked from is incompetent by the dealer. It sounds like you’ve got air in the system so they’ve done a crap job of bleeding them too. Neither are a problem of the car but person doing the work on it.

I know it had recall work done on the clutch so maybe it wasn't done properly.

How do you lose an engine cover!?

Did you ask them to check down the back of the sofa :D

This tells me all I need to know about the dealer.

I think it got broke instead of lost but they did replace it at no cost to me.

Except wasting your time
