Motor R.P.M reduced with light on

Featured Replies

Hello,

i'm having i new issue with my felicia 1.3 GLX carburettor, Normally idle R.P.M at 9000 R.P.M with light on and fan working goes down to 8000 R.P.M

but now it goes down to 6000 R.P.M

- Alternator checked O.K

- battery bought it 2 months ago , also checked found O.K

Please help???

First, all RPMs in your post have one extra digit (a zero). Idle is normally at 750-850 RPM.

Second, do you live in the UK? Skoda Felicia with carburetor had never been exported to the UK.

Third, according to your description, the problem is related to switching on electrical loads. Such drop in RPM means a big mechanical load. It might occur if the field coil of the alternator gets maximum current through voltage regulator. In other words the alternator is forced to deliver maximum current. Another cause might be worn alternator (mechanically).

I need to know what current is drawn with headlights on and fan on.
