Yeh heard all this before udually from interested parties  and equally find it very difficult to take seriously. So why don’t they all just give themselves AA 60db ? I am sure they cannot manipulate it like you suggest without recompense. And a lot of the input on the comparison sites is nonsensical almost comical  if you read them.

I didn't say they can be manipulated to the point they could award themselves AA60 everywhere, I said they can be manipulated within a window of accepted parameters. If you're going to dismiss the point, at least acknowledge it correctly first and don't try to imply i've said something I haven't, I made no implication at all they can 'manipulate without recompense'.

As for your second point, I was talking about comparison tests, not comparison sites, so again acknowledge correctly before dismissing out of hand. User reviews are a complete waste of time, as this thread demonstrates perfectly, with some people slating the P-Zero (and rightly so IMO, dreadful things!) and others saying they're great.

The fact tyres have not yet been replaced are not down to cost, it's just up to now I have never really experienced any reduction in grip of any noticeable sort.

my rears are close to the legal limit now and need changing in the next week, but I've never noticed the rear lose grip, if I had, they would have been changed sooner.

the fronts, obviously that where the power is transferred to the road, so they're different. I don't believe I noticed such a lack of grip last year, so I guess my question is, if it's cold, and damp, will a tyre with 8mm perform better than one with 2.5mm when pulling away from a junction?

In the dry and cold and damp the tyre with less tread will probably have more grip. More thana few mm of surface water the tyre with more tread will have the most grip.

I found my VRS pretty poor in snow and ice irrespective of the tyres,  it was very disappointing considering the fancy diff. I expected that to lock up and haul me through the snow, it doesn’t its was actually crap. I endedup sliding back down a hill out of control luckily nothing behind!

Good point about what people say. Exactly why unofficial comparison sites need to be taken very lighty as they ate 100% unofficial.

The fact is thought the label is an official Legal requirement and I for one am very pleased about that. Kicks marketing bull**** into touch.

I do know whenit comesto extreme conditions ie on the track the label becomes somewhat less relevant! On the road it’s very relevant

Sorry about the iphone typos another thing thats ****. Just some people accuse you if being a troller if you edit it!

It would be significantly better though if the label was more relevant and better tested.

Tyre noise that isn't just a rolling engine off pass would be good, as that gives minimal reference to internal noise.

Wet braking that isn't just 50 to 12mph and a weird friction trailer test resulting in an 'index' score - i.e. actual braking distances would be better

That's why I prefer comparison tests where, whilst limited to a particular size and car, they at least give you the raw information, not just the letter of a band of a calculated index figure.

Maybe I love technical bumph but it is the same for ALL
