Featured Replies

Hi peeps,I have a vrs octavia, ive noticed a vibration in 1st and reverse sometimes, when I pull away, doesn't happen all the time, seems to be when im on the biting point, low revs,it also makes a noise, which you can hear inside the car,and outside when windows are open, cars done 58k,Ive put 20k on it,it happened when I 1st got it,but seems to be more frequent, more in reverse, and more if im on a hill, cheers guys

Could be the dual mass flywheel on the way out.

Better have a mechanic assess things like unusual noises than ask on here.

Hi Vrslad

The noise you talk about, has been mentioned on other posts, just as you describe, it normally happens when setting off in 1st gear, or reverse with a cold engine. Especially when the clutch is under a load moving off up a hill. It mostly happens in the cold weather as well. Bit like a moaning sound, hard to describe I know. Don't get any real vibration myself, although you can feel it through the clutch pedal. I have had this noise, usually in the winter cold weather, for over 3 years and have had no problem with the dual mass flywheel or the clutch itself in that time. It started around 50k miles and my car has now done 98k miles. So far this year it has only happened twice. Both times setting off on a cold morning. I expect it to occur more often now the winter is upon us.  It certainly seems to be coming from the clutch area, but like my experience, maybe nothing to worry about.
