'Tinting' Screen Issues with Samsung Galaxy S7

Featured Replies

For approximately the last 2 months or so I have been experiencing issues with my 18 month old Samsung S7 where it looks like a dark filter has been applied to the bottom half of my screen.  I can still see what is being displayed but it looks like I am looking at half the screen whilst wearing sunglasses.  It is not always present, and when it is varies from the bottom 1cm of the screen up to approximately half the screen.  Occasionally the 'tinted' portion flickers or flashes.

I have taken it to the (not so) local Samsung Repair centre twice.  The first occasion they stated it required a new screen.  In preparation for this I backed up my phone and reset it to factory settings and there was no issue at all with the screen.  However, after approximately 5 days the 'tinting' began to appear again.  Took it back into Samsung who on this occasion stated it was a software issue.  They reset the phone and suggested I just run it only with the factory installed apps and keep an eye on it, slowly adding my other apps and see which one or more was causing the issue.  Although I felt this was not ideal, (how long do you wait before adding another app?) I have given it a go.  Even with just the factory installed apps the tinting made its presence felt after a few days.

My Air Time Provider, 3, have told me this is for Samsung to sort out.  So before I set off on for a third time to get this rectified, has anyone with a Samsung phone, specifically an S7 experience this, or does anyone have any advice or suggestions as to what may be causing it.

As far as I am aware the phone is fully up to date with all app, ATP and android software updates. The tinting does not show up when I do a screen grab of a screen with the tinting present.

Many thanks,

Fin
