Hi , I have a 2011 Skoda Vrs 1.4 Tsi Dsg with a CAVE engine.. yes I know they ain’t the best engines but I like the car .. it needs an engine rebuild or repair the fault . It has a engine rattle not major but needs attention .. any mechanics in the bucks area ?

Do you know the cars history, services, & any service campaign or warranty work?

Is it the timing chain that you think is the issue?

Do you know that it is the original engine in the car?

How many miles has your car done, and is it a oil user?

Has it had a new water pump fitted?

 

Are you using VW502 00 oil so 5w 40 fs & not VW504 00 so 5w 30 fs long life?

Have you had it from new?

 

Full Main Dealer History means little,

what would that include, 6 x oil and filter changes & Free Wash and Vacuums and look see's,

and maybe the Spark Plugs and air filter changed at 40,000 miles so now if not done every 2 years or 4 years.

 

When were the spark plugs and air filter changed, and are you using 5w 30 FS LL oil?

spark plug changed 

have taken it to a Vw/ Skoda specialist they saying replace or rebuild 

 

just need a reasonable price mechanic as they saying to much £££ 

Surely a VW Specialist is what is needed, and how much are they quoting it will cost you.

What are they offering to strip the engine and look see? 

 What do they think is causing the rattle?

 

Has the timing chain been checked.

Has there been a borescope in to check the cylinders, has there been a pressure check done on the cylinders.

 

I would get 5w 40 FS VW502 oil in, DENSO plugs if not in already and run it on Tesco Momentum 99 if you do not already if it is just noisy.

With FMDS History that should mean a 'Software Update' to be done was available since 2011 and should have been carried out.

 

Has your car needed 'Service Campaign '34F7' carried out on the DSG and was it done?
