Recently purchased Octavia mk 111 headlights were aimed very low. They have been adjusted using the hex sockets, it seems beyond their limit ,and now are acceptably aimed with the range switch at position 2. Even under driver only load the base position on the range switch is totally unacceptable. Any ideas on getting the hex sockets able to lower units again.

Hi, I have learned not to try and adjust headlights myself. On a car they need to be set by a mechanic with a beam setter tool.  It is tempting to fiddle with the hexagon screws, but for me it always ends in disaster. It is possible to set lights using a wall, flat ground and tape measure, but not worth the fag, unless you have a motorcycle. Done it once with a m/cycle. Make sure car has 1/2 to 3/4 fuel in tank, and dash adjuster set to ----
