Removing dealer stickers.

It is a legal requirement to put on the plates where they were made so they have to. Although I agree it is annoying.

On those threads where people ask for bylines suitable for their plates, how would they expect to overcome that legal requirement? Just curious is all.

It is a legal requirement for plates made on the UK mainland. So get a company in Northern Ireland, Rep of Ireland or Channel Islands to do them and you're sorted. And I thought it was just a postcode they had to display, might be wrong though. I saw some done at Halfrauds, and the Halfrauds logo and postcode were very discreet, so there's no need for them to be massive. It's just dealers/companies cashing in on free advertising.

Well, I've just had a nice pair of plates made up for our Smart by GT Grafix (who are clear about which type styles are legal) and they have no maker's mark on them - are they legal?

You'd have to see where GT Grafix are based John. I wouldn't loose sleep over it myself.

I have been looking at GT Grafix too debating the Carbon 3D ones but

Yep, still legal - think of it as a 'loophole' - because they're not produced in the UK, they don't have to conform to the postcode and place of manufacture rule. But they still comply with the right font and right sizing etc
