2014 Octavia VRS MK III - Upgrade Infotainment

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone,

I have recently bought a 2014 Skoda Octavia MK III VRS.

The screen is quite small so wanted to upgraded to a bigger screen and also obtain the ability for Apple CarPlay. Am I able to just install a bigger screen or will i need a new Multimedia unit as well ? - if, so please advise.

I know there have been a few post's regarding this but still not 100% clear.

Thanks in advance for your help :)

You have a MIB1 Bolero so you’ll need a MIB2 radio unit and most of us doing this choose between an Amundsen or Columbus radio unit so you benefit from factory nav. Most choose the Amundsen these days for cost, seems many more people are doing it since I upgraded mine to a MIB2 Amundsen. You also need a screen and USB port. The radio unit needs Component Protection removing (this bit can be done by Skoda) and then coding to work with the car (This bit can’t be done by Skoda). I suggest you look at my build log below which details my radio upgrade and I answer a lot of the common questions and the guy who did the coding, and I recommend him to everyone (Pab567) is in there too.

Hi SashaGrace,

Thanks for your quick reply :)

I had a look through your VRS build and I must say I am impressed!.. it's looking good, you've put a lot of work into that car and it shows.

How much would you say the MIB2 unit would be and also a new screen ?

Also, would you be able to link me to these units please just so I know i'm getting the right ones, haha!... sorry to be a pain.
