Where to put axle stands?

Featured Replies

Hi,

Probably a basic question. On my last car the jacking point was wide enough that I could jack up the car then also use that for the axle stand.

On the Octavia I had no room.  I had to take the undertray off and there's not much room!

Where do people site the axle stand to safely support the car?  A picture would be great.

The reason for taking it off was rattling and I found the metal support that fits up under the bumper from the undertray was no longer attached at the top!  Real pain to get back without the car up in the air...

All help appreciated..

I usually put it under the rear wishbone mounting or part of the sub frame where it is bolted to the body, depends on the car but as long as you find something solid it doesn't matter.

There are sometimes jacking points under covers on some cars that are usually used for 2 posts lifts which can be used but most axle stands have that U shape so a flat surface isn't really ideal.
