S II Bulkhead access

Featured Replies

I had to get into the bulk head space and was looking for guides for this. Not much on ERWIN. I found an old thread on Briskoda for Octavias, but people had differing opinions. I tried to follow some of this advice and ended up with the cover in two pieces.

The advice on here was to start from the middle and with or without WD40 pull / leaver the driver side cover up and it should give. I was surprised, how easy it gave - with a bit of a cracking sound - and continued to just pull.... I had a look underneath and noticed that a long strip was still stuck in the bottom of the windscreen. I carefully prised the rest from the outside up. This felt much easier.

This picture shows where the cover is clipped in.

This shows the strip that simply came off from the cover... good job.

All I wanted, was to get to this little rubber bung to feed wiring for heated jets.

Later I found this YouTube video. It is in German, but pretty self explanatory.

I used superglue to join the fastening strip back onto the cover and so far it seems o.k and I continue to hope for the best.

For all those people who ever wonder why neither the windscreen washers nor the wipers work, make sure your bonnet is fully closed when you test them.
