Renault kadjar

Featured Replies

Six weeks ago a kind gentleman reprofiled the rear of my Superb with his Peugeot 508 by running in to the back of it at about 60mph on the M5 .  From my front facing camera footage I was doing 45 and braking as traffic slowed for the M5/M6 junction - will post a picture but from 10m away you would struggle to see the damage.

Car was collected yesterday and will be away over Xmas to be repaired, the hire car provided by the other driver's insurance is a Renault Kadjar petrol (as for as I can tell a 1.6T ) turbo Signature Nav - what a heap of ...

This is an 18 reg car (MY15 according to the manual) and:

  • The electronic parking brake only applies when "stopping the engine (and not when the engine is on standby for vehicles fitted with the Stop and Start function)" Renault's emphasis from the manual as I got it out the check why it wasn't applying!
  • The Start Stop doesn't seem to function
  • Apparently there is a rev counter but I haven't seen it yet (not used to driving petrol and knowing the revs would help in a strange car)
  • Headlights are useless and main beam is little different to dipped - they are according to the online brochure supposed to be full LED!
  • I could connect my I-pod but it would be in the open and visible to the light fingered
  • It has no spare, and no space for a spare - literally no space as it has the Bose sound system which is no better than the Columbus in mine.
  • The controls are all over the place, four stalks on the steering column plus buttons on the wheel and probably fewer controls than the Superb with three stalks!
  • It has lane departure - which I thought was tyre noise on the white line!
  • It has KESSY - and I foolishly thought I could leave the keys in my pocket but as the house isn't KESSY I still need them in my hand to get through the front door.

List this car is roughly £1000 less than my 2.0 TDi SEL Exec Superb which says a lot about the Superb  -   who buys these things?

Maybe I should have swapped for the i-40 Enterprise had!

I am really looking forward to getting the Superb back.

^^^?

Do people buy them with their cash money, or is it the likes of the Motability Group to lease out, Finance Companies & Lease Companies, and others to rent them out or give as Courtesy cars / Body Shop loaners / Hire Cars.

As used cars they will cost what people are prepared to pay for them and maybe not what the asking prices are at Renault or other Dealers / Traders.

it is actually a 1.2T - so much for the insurance company promising me a 2.0 litre car!

My boss got landed with a captur a couple of yrs back when the fleet lease had expired on his car before the new one had been fully agreed by all parties and replacement vehicles delivered.

He hated it.. coming out of 2011 focus hatchback...

A kadjar is a bug thing to be landed with a 1.2, even turboed.. that engine must be working stupidly hard to move it around

Used Kadjar's are very cheap. Discounts on new must be high.

It's a rebadged Nissan X-Trail which are equally as dull.

This Scottish Skoda dealer is even selling one...

Kadjar currently are all 1.3l petrol and 2 wd manual 140 or 160 ps.

X-Trail come in Petrol or Diesel and 2 or 4 wd, and a Diesel Auto.  1.6 or 2.0lt 130 or 163 or 177ps,  so a bit of a difference there.

Both makes available with big discounts from the RRP's.
