Skoda Fabia MKII Headlamps Faulty

Featured Replies

My Skoda Fabia Sport 12V HTP 2010 MKII has suddenly stopped the dipped headlights from coming on but high beam comes up ok with both the blue high beam icon and the dipped green icon coming on at the same time?

When put on dipped only, nothing is showing on the screen ( no blue or green headlamp icon)

Have plugged in a Hex V2 and on auto scan no faults have come up?

This is the single filament H7 system with a metal shutter that should come down for the dipped position. Can hear the shutters clicking on the headlamp when the light pod is switched between the two. Just suddenly stopped working on dipped when first turned on in the morning.

Have checked all the fuses which are ok and would like to know where to start with my Hex- V2 having used auto scan and come up with no faults. Where about does one start searching to find the problem as I have not played with this before on my son's Fabia Sport. As it was quickly checked out by another person I am now wandering if there has been corruption with the controller as both icons come on together at once when high beam is selected and they all go out together when dipped is selected plus the bulbs of course. He has to return back to Cranwell on the 3rd Jan so need to get it sorted out if possible before then.

Have followed the wiring diagram having not found anything using Ross - Tech VCDS so went under dash below the steering wheel. A loose frayed wire on a connector was found connecting the light switch assembly directly to the headlamp relay. Once this wire was replaced the dipped green icon came on plus the H7 bulbs for dipped with the shutters operating then back to full beam for high when the shutters were raised for high beam bulb beam on either side. Still lousy light output and maybe in the future try to swop them out with something else as my motorcycle headlight out performs these monstrosities. Problem solved after many hours of hunting as it was well hidden behind the fuse assembly. As time was critical had to have help with a technician of many years experience. Sometimes it is back to the old way of following cables with a wiring diagram. Job Done.

Thanks for all your help, son now back to his RAF base with working headlamps.
