Engine problems

Featured Replies

Hi,

Sorry for my bad English but I have a problem with my Skoda Octavia Scout 2.0 TDI.

The engine runs poorly when I push the throttle gently. It almost stalls for me.

Yesterday I had a message of "Engine failure" and the ESP light came on. I stopped the car and then turned it on again and then the car went fine again.

Today the car stalls when it's on idle. It starts back up again but stalls after a while.

It almost sounds like the car has a cough from time to time.

Does anyone have any idea of the possible  cause of the problems?

when was it serviced last?   don@t rely on skoda fuel filter change data do it more often,   next get a preferably VAG-COM  fault code read out ,   if you have a light on something should register there ,  next whats the mileage  could be the EGR / is there a particle filter?   at least get you started,   before some one with experience of this engine comes along

It was serviced in June and then should also the fuel filter have been changed. But I should have a look at it tomorrow.

I have tried to find someone that can make a vag-com fault code read out but due to it soon being new year hasent been able to. But I will do that to.

The mileage is 152107 miles.

I have notised that the car is worse when it's cold and not yet up to temperature. I don't know if it has something with the problem or the solution to do.

I have driven mostly long miles with the car. I used to commute to work and drove everyday about 300 km per day. But during the last year it has almost just being short drives about 20 km per day. Could that effect the particle filter?

I would guess it's getting clogged up --intake/egr valve  I think it's quite a complex egr  with a flap valve (pneumatic/vac)  and an electric motor driven valve  as well,   do a search on insitu cleaning of egr valves,  may be lucky but you still need a code reader    good luck keep us all posted on progress
