Coming and leaving home light's

Featured Replies

Howdy all

I am doing some research around the coming home lights. I found this video on YouTube but wanted somebody to confirm how he is able to get the menu to just come up like he does.

I'm guessing he will have his laptop hooked up to the car and is making changes while filming. Could anybody shed some light on this for me?

Cheers

Joseph

They’ll be using VCDS (or similar) to make the changes to the cars settings. What I couldn’t tell from the video was whether they used the light sensor to activate the CH/LH lights (and they just covered the sensor to simulate darkness) or if the adaptation was for the lights to be activated just by the door opening, regardless of the ambient light situation.

Carista gives options to activate on key removal or door opening. Also choice of fogs or headlights.

It was free to try too, if you have a compatible ELM327 OBDII adaptor already.

Thanks for the information you two. I will be looking into this. I may have to see if there is anybody in my area willing to set it up in exchange for beer money.

Just buy Carista and do it yourself. The genuine adaptor is a little more than the cheaper eBay options, but you get a 1 month free trial of the Carista app with it...

The reason they'll be working during the day is likely to be from the lack of an external light sensor (i.e. no 'Auto' headlight feature from the factory).

Thanks a bunch all. I now have the cable and am going for to get vcds or whatever it's called ahah. I will update once done. I plan on doing a nice driving video from one of my favourite roads in Norfolk UK soon too. Will have pictures up soon of the LEDs and I will film me doing the changes. Anybody have any other suggestions to change while I'm at it?

Some of the changes you want can be done in the CAR menu on the infotainment on a 2016 model.

However you do it, I would go for:

1 click unlocking,

speed sensitive wipers,

extra wipe after wash-wipe,

alarm beep on lock only,

dial staging on,

cornering fogs off,

hill hold on,

heated mirrors auto on with rear window.

scandinavian drls

euro parking lights

I would love to get the menu like in the video above, well that's the goal anyway.

Thanks for the suggestion. Does the stageing work ok with the later Spaceback model's?

In the video he surely got to the menu just by pressing the CAR button on the head unit and then SETTINGS.

Carista recently upgraded the Rapid/Toledo options and finally got needle sweep working on the newer (post2015) dashboard.

It's completely pointless but it looks nice. :)

It was the first thing I did when I got my new Spaceback in August last year.

Compared to my 2014 Rapid, there are far more options available in the settings on the new car. On the old one I had to use Carista to do a lot of those now accessible things

Can the above changes all be done on a 2014 model using VCDS? Mine has heated mirrors (have to manually turn them on though) but miss the extra wipe after wash and 1 click unlocking!

Search this forum for VCDS. Or search the VCDS forum for Rapid.

Some you tube videos too. Also try searching for SEAT Toledo Vag-com (or VCDS) . It's the exact same car. The first time I did changes to a Toledo it was using the Skoda Rapid settings on Carista.

Already had a look but couldn't find much, hence asking in here.

I use Carista because I can manage it without being a techy type - and there's normally a free trial on it. VCDS is something else. I would ask the question on the forum where the experts are, that is the VCDS one.
