Octavia wheel caps

Featured Replies

Hi Folk,

I'm looking at getting my alloys refurbished early to mid January as I've a slight buckle in one and two are leaking air ... My wheel centre caps are shot to bits, see attached photo, and I'm just wondering if the aftermarket ones from the likes of eBay & Amazon, or even the stick on badges, are any good or am I better getting originals to fit... I've a Laurin & Klement with Sputnik wheels and not sure if all centre caps are the same size across all wheels...

Get the part number off the back of the caps and stick it into eBay - there's plenty of genuine and non genuine items available.  If it doesn't come up then measure them and look for the equivalent.

I replaced mine on my old Oct 2 for the newer style logo (non genuine) and they fitted no issue (by measuring as the Part numbers were different).  Paid about £9 for non genuine and a year later they were still perfect.

Go for complete new caps as opposed to stickers.

Thanks..... I've some genuine ones on eBay but not sure if it's as cheap buying from a dealer as they're coming in just under £40 for the 4

It's always worth checking main dealer .... I brought a replacement part for my airbox and it was £18 on eBay and I got it for £7 at main dealer.

I recently bought some non-genuine centre caps off ebay, they came out much cheaper than a genuine set altough mine were for a fabia, they fit nicely and i cant see a difference between them and genuine ones. As mentioned above buy actual caps, stickers are more likely to fall off when driving or when washing your wheels.

Go for the new style ones (part number: 5JA 601 151).

If you're in no major rush these genuine caps are from China...

Or if you prefer the current style...

Or if you want them quicker, the exact same items from a UK seller...

Thanks for the links silver1011... I'm inclined to go for the original ones as I'm not a fan of the new style however as my grill badge has faded away to nothing and requires replacing at some point I might bite the bullet and upgrade it to the new style, along with the rear one.

Thanks for that link AkisVH as they've some nice stuff on it .... My only worry with some of the badges, more so aftermarket, is the faces seem to be domed whereas mines are flat and sit flush with the face of the wheel.

It's 50/50 with non genuine, the ones I put in my Oct 2 were great and were still mint a year after purchase but in the past on other cars I've seen water ingress on non genuine s after no more than a few months

The main problem I've seen mentioned with non genuine ones is they can be to lose a fit and fall out ... The originals have the metal retaining ring running around the clips which aftermarket ones don't and they don't seem to have the facility to swap it over to them....
