Didn’t know that!

Featured Replies

The replies regarding the use of cc which seem to be "Panning" My on of view, seem to either be justifying their own use of it, or assuming I am having a go at them, personally. This is not the case, I am saying I don't use it, never have, most likely never will. I am saying at best its a minor help and at worse, could be dangerous if used poorly. I am in no way suggesting anyone here IS using it inappropriately but that, as with many functions on a car, (Hazard warning lights for stopping illegally or for stopping to reverse in to a space, etc. The horn to "Knock" on someones door, rather then park, get out, walk over and knock) Some will and most likely do!

To that end, I won't go any further with the discussion on cc as, as mentioned, my point of view is my own. You are equally entitled to your own. I am NOT saying don't use it, just f you do, use it wisely!

The typical driver out there is completely sh-hit anyway. They "Forget" the safe driving skills they were taught, within months. You can take a horse to water, as the saying goes!

  • Er, won't the aquaplaning cause the front tyres to spin up, the CC read that as an increase in speed, and the CC therefore back off the power?

  • It's just an image to make the story seem more real as appears to be from an unrelated Australian crash where a man died: https://www.news.com.au/national/queensland/man-killed-when-car-hits-tree-on-k

  • I only use cruise when im on the motorway, as a safety against speed traps.   As for aqua planing - yes, its a possibility, but its as likely when cc is not being used. Wheels will spin up,

I don't think speed limiter is available without CC, so you must have pushed the wrong button...

It was a Fabia 1.2TSi SE, which only came with SL. Skoda had just announced it was being upgraded to SL and CC which was why the Service bloke assumed it had CC.

Until I had driven that Fabia, I hadn't heard of SL. I can appreciate the merits of it, and now I know you can disengage it by kick down, would probably be something I would use in 30 and 40 zones.

^^^^^^^^ I wonder what the press/news agencies reactions would have been if a 14yr old uninsured moped driver had been involved/caused a fatal accident with a very young child or a very elderly person whilst riding the moped,i do wonder if there would have been so much compassion in the media reports.

This is exactly the point I was making about how the Press decide to spin news events. Imagine if you were walking across a Zebra crossing legally with your precious only child, holding their hand when some untrained, non-taxed, non-insured, non-MOT scooter ride knocks down and kills your 2 year old child then how would the unbiased press report the story. Always add a large pinch of salt to everything you read in a newspaper (best with fish & chips), read on the interweb and hear on the radio or see on the TV. People need to look beyond the HEADLINES and ask what if this event had affected me or one of my family members. Did the 14 year old steal the scooter? Did they commit a crime with it? When the hype has died down we may actually get told the truth about this Road Traffic Accident/Murder depending how the Police decide to label it.

Driving on auto pilot only takes an instant to go from safe comfortable driving, to effin ell! I nearly drove straight into the back of that traffic jam/through those red lights, too fast around that bend, etc.

Not for drivers who pay attention to their driving, and what is happening around them.

The typical driver out there is completely sh-hit anyway. Imo if this were true there would be way more accidents than there are now, but yes, there are a lot of unsafe drivers driving on our roads.
