My octavia mk1 shutdown when i shift the gear to R or D in the cold morning

Featured Replies

I have Skoda Octavia 2001 automatic gear transmission, during the morning after two minutes function.

when i shift the gear to D  the RPM start drops and the car shakes and shutdown while im pressing the breaks.

when it is warm a bit the car doesn't shut down t shakes a bit.

computer check shows everything is fine no fualts

Gas pump is fine, spark plugs are new and fine, the battery is fine, gas filter is new. throttle was cleaned.

Please help.

@iSSA - My Dad once encountered a similar sounding problem with a new (under manufacturer warranty new) automatic. The diagnosis was that the engine was idling slightly too slowly when cold. I'm not sure how (if) you can adjust the cold idle though.

The other possibility would be that you might clear the symptoms by changing the transmission fluid.

The idle rpm reading is 800 and it is fixed no down  or up since the gear is P or N and once I shift to R or D when the car is cold the problem appears.

Finally i discovered the problem, it was the tps sensor, changed and everything is fine.

The point is when it is warm enough the computer was not able to register and faults codes, when i checked it on the cold start the computer detected the problem and i replaced the sensor
