Octavia Mk1 TDI (PD130) - Ambiente SE (MFSW, Remapped, RARB and BT radio) - Reduced due to turbo failure.

Featured Replies

Grey MK1 Hatchback Octavia - PD130 (passed its MOT in August)

Ambiente SE.

Modifications:

- EGR blank (EGR and ASV still in place and original flexi pipe provided).

- Remapped to north of 160bhp

- Whiteline adjustable RARB (should have the bolts to return to standard).

- Removal of standard radio and cubby hole for a double DIN kenwood unit with double BT handsfree. (DPX 5000 BT). Have original cubby hole and radio in the boot.

Engine:

- Oil consumption - topped up 250ml for about 3000 miles of driving, but it wasn't filled too much at its last service.  I've also had intervals closer to 4000 miles before it asked for a drop of oil. (This usually results in my stopping within 2 minutes to top up).

- Turbo overboost issues existed early on in ownership, but switching to vpower with some forte TD cleaner and mostly motorway miles stopped it. Has now been driven locally and is starting to result in overboost again, but not all the time.

- Turbo whistle is audible at idle - this occurred after my last time checking for any oil in the SMIC, I believe It's not as flush as it should be at the turbo end that causes this, but not too audible IMO. Not smoky out the back as far as I can tell.

Turbo has now seemingly died - it whistles and has no real pull. Car starts and drives, but whistles and has no real power.

- Has been serviced whenever it asked for it, but often before.

- Cambelt changed late 2017 (plus 2 of 3 engine mount bolts swapped out). Mileage was about 105k I think.

- Air and fuel filter were probably done along with the cambelt, but I need to check what I wrote down in the service book at home to give you an honest answer.

- EGR blanking plates fitted at both the EGR and the turbo side.

Gearbox/Clutch:

6 speed gearbox

When very cold has been "crunchy" 1st -> 2nd.

3->2nd requires a bit of an accellerator blip so I assume maybe it's synchros?

I've had some paranoia about clutch slippage pre and post-remap. Had it looked at by a transmission specialist (post remap) and he said he couldn't get it to slip and sees no issues with it. Still the original clutch and DMF.

Interior:

MFSW - cruise and volume controls present there (factory fit).

Radio changed to the kenwood DPX 5000 bt (dual BT support) - has been integrated to the MFSW with some wiring looms at the back including the powered aerial by a pro. fitter. Mic on the top right pillar.

Left stalk (indicator) was replaced in 2015/2016.

Upholstry is ... ok. Some juice was spilt on the front passenger seat but I've tried to clear it up a bit. Some minor staining there, but otherwise I think it's ok.

Has child seats fitted - one of which is isofix so you may have some odd denting there. Also.. kids being kids there are snacks etc. everywhere but I'll make sure it's cleaned up.

Ash tray won't stay in.

Left passenger vent is damaged but hole (wheel won't cause the fins to go up/down).

CD changer is still fitted in the boot for the original headunit (still there). Original head unit should work fine again after you remove the plugin looms.

To the left of the boot the panel is damaged and has fallen off (the light cover).

General:

Aircon has always worked well

No known water loss throughout its life, and I changed the CTS in late 2013 IIRC).

Whiteline RARB fitted, but I have the original bolts in the boot IIRC.

Goodyear vector 4 seasons on 3/4 and a winter on the remaining 1 due to a recent puncture.

Goodyear on the spare in the boot.

Locking wheelnuts replaced with standard ones.

Rear disks recently replaced (late 2017/early 2018).

Front disks replaced in 2014

Front left sensor had issues but was sorted... until last MOT when the light came back on as I hit the speed bump before the garage :( (Garage reset it and it's been off :) )

Body work is starting to show signs of rust at the corner by the rear wheels.

Under-tray has been removed.

drivers' side there's a bit of plastic hanging down - looks like whatever it was screwed into was damaged/sheered off some time earlier this year whilst I was in birmingham going over a speed-bump the wrong way.

Rear wiper motor was replaced about 2 years ago IIRC and the front doors re-sealed in 2014 I think.

Drivers' side mirror was knocked off and replaced with a generic replacement - paint has mostly peeled now.

Bumps, scratches and dents all round :(

Remap wasn't generic and I asked for something a bit sympathetic to the clutch to give it a longer life.

All door electrics have always worked without issue (locks and windows).

Servicing:

As above - usually whenever it asks for it, air, oil, fuel filters etc. done at reasonable intervals. I had thing of doing it at least every 5k for a while, but since it was done by the garage in bracknell - I'd left it at variable.

Occassional use of a diesel turbo cleaner whenever it starts to show signs of sticky vanes (overboost).

Brakes - I didn't go for cheap stuff, but got genuine VW parts fitted.

Plenums recently cleared out and added some sealant to prevent any water ingress.

Generally used to give to a family friend for most of the work as he's honest and reliable. Did the last oil and filter change (air and oil) on my own.

Owners - wise:

1st owner died

2nd owner purchased as from first owner's social club. Retired and went caravanning so sold the octy to me at around 60k'ish miles.

Other:

At least 1 (but probably 2) cd cassettes as well for the CD changer (this doesn't work with the after market head unit).

Snow chains also included and whatever is left of the (mostly full?) 1L top up 507 oil. (I think I refilled this with either mobil or castrol, but more likely mobil).

Fire extinguiser too and a few bulbs.

Also included is the luagage net and relevant haynes manual.

For all its minor (in my eyes at least) faults - I utterly love this car, but I don't think I'm doing it any favours having it sat in london's start/stop traffic.

It pulls well, but if you're interested then you'll see it yourself I guess.

I'm sad to see this car go but honestly I've just moved back in with my parents and can't afford an additional car in the family. (Had to buy an auto for them).

I believe I also have a vent section of an Audi TT about for the wheel arch liner (should you wish to make that mod) and the caliper carriers for the larger front disk mod (was waiting for new disks first). WIll be included FOC at asking price.

Looking for 900 ono on account of the recent puncture replacement mismatch and overall cosmetic condition.

Now reduced to 500.

Pictures to come soon and feel free to PM for the license plate.

Based near South merton rail station and Morden underground station, also the A3 leads fairly close by as well.

If there's anything you think I've missed out please let me know.
