Front Radar Issue

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

I have a 64 plate Octavia Elegance. Drove into a parking space yesterday morning and when started up to reverse out in the evening I got a 3 second solid beep from the parking system. The parking sensor button near the gearstick was blinking orange and on the infotainment system instead of giving the coloured bars at the front all it shows is an orange exclamation mark - however no system errors show up. I haven't driven into anything, the radar is clean, not loose or damaged in any way, and connection seems solid. It rained slightly during the day but nothing major. The rear sensors are working fine. Nothing has changed today.

Looking in the manual when the beep occurs with the flashing orange button then a trip to a specialist garage is required. Before undergoing this just wondered if anyone else has experienced similar issues and whether a home fix is possible?

Many thanks

When I had that exact same 3 second beep and orange exclamation mark on my 15 plate Elegance it wasn't the radar that was faulty but one of the front parking sensors (the inner left front one in my case).

Do a scan with VCDS and see what the fault code is... but I would be pretty much 100% sure that the radar isn't the cause of your problem.

As mine was still under warranty I got the parking sensor replaced at no cost under warranty.

Many thanks, will do. On closer inspection the outer ring of one of the sensors appears damaged - a tiny nick pushed in, possibly from a stone chip - so may be letting some moisture in. Thanks again.

That's exactly what happened to mine.
