Octavia Second Service

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I'm coming up to my second service with a 66 plate Octovia.  The first service I had was with Skoda themselves. The car has only done 10k miles.  Do I need to spend the £249 that Skoda charge for a second service or will a service with a third party do?  If so, is there one you would recommend?  Would this affect the FSH?

Thanks very much for your help.

Tim

You don't have to get your car serviced with Skoda. Any VAT registered garage can do it. You still need the garage to follow the servicing requirements and use the correct specification of replacement parts and oil grade. Keep your receipts including parts fitted etc incase you need to claim on the warranty. Plenty of very good VW /Audi / Skoda and Seat independents throughout the country. A slight negative on doing this is that you will no longer have a full main dealer service history (you will still have a FSH) and may affect any good will gesture from Skoda in the future if you are faced with a repair not covered by the warranty.

Thank you - that's very helpful!

I asked a local independent garage who I trust and does very good quality work to quote for a 2nd service (+ spark plugs, air filter and pollen filter) and they came back more expensive than the Skoda Dealers. I got it done at Skoda in the end with the extra parts for my own piece of mind and as mentioned above helps with any future issues. I will complete servicing and any other work myself once the warranty expires.
