Hi, had an issue arise during the past few days of cold weather. Passenger doors started sticking and I eventually ended up applying too much force to the handle of the drivers side rear door. The handle is now stuck in the outer position but the door won't open from either inside or out.

 

 

From inside I can still hear the central locking mechanism working in the door which leads me to think it might just be the smaller cable attached to the handle that could have snapped.

 

I rang a repair specialist who came recommended to me and he reckons it's a common fault that likely requires a whole new mechanism (€200 part + labour).

 

I'd appreciate any knowledge or recommendations from more experienced owners here.

If it’s the same as the Octavia which is imagine it is, this happened to my old mans and it was a simple fix.

 

that cover I’ve circled on the left, that pops off. The handle has like a hook shape and there’s a good chance it’s that what’s come off the mechanism. I managed to get a screwdriver and hold the mechanism back and then push the handle in and remove the screwdriver for it to lock back in to place. Apologies for the rubbish description it’s the only way I can explain
