Replacement brake pads and disks

Featured Replies

Evening all

Just visited my local Volkservice garage for a quote for the above for my 2014 2.0   Vrs diesel estate

Front £215 all in price

Rear £160 all in price

Parts are Pagit

Does this sound reasonable? At first I thought a bit expensive but have searched a bit online and now I’m not so sure

Cheers

Looks a pretty fair price to be fair. I paid around £280ish with discount for front discs and pads. I'd of got local ex-vw lad to of done it,but it was in for other work at the time.

Same car, virtually same situation. Had all 4 tyres replaced at national, bloke said the front brakes needed doing 'soon' and from my recent MOT was told the rear were on the way out. I asked for a quick quote - unknown which parts but he said about £190 for pads and discs for the front, highly doubt they'll be pagid.

Quickly went online to check the cost of parts to do it myself - £200 for Pagid pads and discs for the front and rear from euro car parts.

So in essence your paying £175 for the labour, seems reasonable to me.

@DoorMattThank you. What tyres did you have put on?

Somewhat of a little white lie.

I had to have a replacement out of the blue, I discovered a screw inbedded in the offside rear whilst away on a road trip. Took it to the nearest tyre place at the time and walked out the with an avon vz7.

Come pay day I did the other three to all match up. To me, they seem the best value tyre in the mid range category at just over £70 a tyre with a 5% discount at national tyres. In the 200 miles so far with a full set, no complaints and a decent grip.

I had Avon’s on my Qashqai, ruined my fuel economy by 10mpg and soon ate away at the cost I’d saved instead of the Contis I was going to fit.

Awful decision.

I need to get my pads and discs done this year (something I knew when I bought the car).

do they have to be pagid branded, or can I use something else? If so what?

I usually buy the parts and get my trusted indie garage to fit them.

I went Mtec discs and brembo pads all round.  It's a good combination.  Done about 7 months ago, can't remember price though.

Just managed to get brembo disc and pads for both front and back just under 300 quid, ECP flash sale. Now to find time time to get them fitted.

Does anyone know what brand pads and disks are put originally? Are Pagits a step up basically?

Cheers
