Skoda Simply Clever Strikes Again!

Featured Replies

Just had a perusal on the Skoda website for the first time in a while to check out Servicing costs and noted they have now removed the fairly comprehensive list of items and componests that are checked and replaced in each service.  Not only that, previously they only listed a Minor and Major Service, they have now added an Oil Service into the mix, and the Minor Service is now classed as an Interim Service.

The Servicing Schedule as detailed in my Service Book (remember them??) stated that if you chose Annual Servicing the routine was; Minor, Major, Minor, Major ad infinitum.

In the modern Skoda mindset are they now suggesting if on Annual Servicing your routine is now, Oil Service, Major Service, Interim Service, Major Service, Oil Service, Major Service......?

Also, can any explain why an Aircon Service for vehicles built before 30 May 2016 is £60 cheaper than those built after 30th May 2016?

AirCon Service - Vehicles built before 30th May 2016^ £79
AirCon Service - Vehicles built after 30th May 2016^ £139

Finally, reference the above, Skoda give prices for vehicles that were built BEFORE 30th May 2016 and built AFTER 30th May 2016, but what is the cost of an AirCon Service if your vehicle was actually built ON 16th May 2016??

Skoda. Simply Confusing!

Are they using a new, more expensive, gas for the AC service of latter models?.

R1234yf now used on new models instead of R134a.

Blame EU legislation.

The 'Comprehensive list of Service Actions' @ a Interim or Major Service or what use to be called a Minor / Inspection Service or Major Service only said what Parts Might get repaced at a Service 'If Required' and even if you Booked and Paid for a Major Service @ £279 on a Fixed Price with cars 3-10 Years old on Fixed Servicing that did not mean a Air Filter, Spark Plugs or Air Filter would be replaced, it did not even guarantee they would be checked for condition.

Just replaced by Manufacturers Guidelines or Recommendations, and possibly not even then.

Was a Road Test done everytime.

Were Wheels actually removed every rime.

Were Body Inspections done and reports done everytime?   *Why are Skoda UK commonly knocking back Paint And Corrosion Warranty Claims because Main Dealers were failing to do Body Condition Inspections and reports?*

When there were service books the page after service page had the Body Inspection page that owner / keepers could easily check what had been put on the report.
