5 year warranty expires shortly - anything worth checking?

Featured Replies

Car due in for its fifth yearly service very shortly, and the five year extended warranty will run out in a week or two.

No obvious problems (mechanical, paintwork or bodywork) but is there anything worth having specifically checked over at the service (just a minor one)?

Look very hard for any signs of zinc inclusions in the paint at the bottom of the doors. In particualr where the front bottom of the rear doors touches the rubber seal

White worm on the badges, wheel centres etc

Any issues with the wiring harness into the doors as earlier cars had a problem with this, but yours may have the later design with much longer loops in the connectors.

Juddering from clutch perhaps suggesting issues with dual mass flywheel.

If a diesel any sign of issues from the "fix"

Noisy wheel bearings

Oil weeping out of dampers

Thanks.  Re the wheel badges, these were changed a couple of years ago, but the new ones are already starting to go.  The originals were replaced under warranty, but it wasn't a 5 minute job because the wheels had to be removed to do it!  Tempted to leave it this time on the basis that it really doesn't matter in the overall scheme of things.

If it's a 4WD, make sure the Haldex unit is sending drive to the rear wheels.  These fail without warning or notification.
